Mike and Vickie Carswell
Ministers of Music
Mike & Vickie have worked together in music ministry for nearly 40 years. Mike grew up playing
piano for his dad's Southern Gospel quartet, THE SPOKESMEN. Vickie grew up singing in churches
with her parents and 5 sisters as THE WISE FAMILY. Mike & Vickie met when The Spokesmen and
The Wise Family were on the same program at a gospel sing in Smithfield, NC. Mike went to Vickie's
15th birthday party and the rest is history!
Married in 1974, Mike & Vickie moved to Nashville, TN in 1976 where they worked with friends,
Bobby & Bernice Howard, in a traveling music ministry. They also settled into Christ Church in Nashville
for 13 years where they were on the praise and worship team, members of the choir and band, and
program coordinators for Sunday services. Their 2 sons were born there, and they returned to NC in
1990 to be closer to aging parents. The wealth of spiritual and practical training they received at
Christ Church under Pastor L.H. Hardwick, current Sr. Pastor Dan Scott and Choir Directors Landy & Joy
Gardner, has been put to work in NC as they have worked with churches in the area to create choirs,
enhance music programs and provide praise and worship training.
Mike and Vickie originally worked with Middlesex Church of God from 1994-1999 and have
returned now in 2008 in anticipation of continued growth and excitement.

for each to pursue a Bachelor's degree from Lee University. Three years later, they moved
to Freehold, NJ where Erin became the full-time youth pastor, and Sam ministered as a
Pastoral Assistant at the Abundant Life Church of God in Freehold, NJ. Presently, Erin is
completing a M.Div. at Regent University, and Sam, while already attaining a M.Div. at
Princeton Theological Seminary, has extended his ministerial training and graduate study at
Duke University's graduate program in religion. Sam and Erin both carry a passion and love for God and His children and

Reverend Ismael Torres
Hispanic Ministries Pastor
Middlesex Church of God Worship Center opened their doors for the Hispanic community December 5, 2005 with Ismael Torres being the pastor, alongside his dear wife, Annette Torres. They came to North Carolina from Puerto Rico December 31, 1997 with their children, Abigail and Abimael.
They were a blessing to various ministries until they began to reunite in a home in Middlesex and a sister in the faith had a vision of Middlesex Church of God. She saw three crosses on the church. Not knowing where the church was located, Pastor Ismael’s family searched with great faith for the church. When they stopped at our church and saw the three crosses they felt God’s presence and cried. They had interviews and God opened the door until today.
Pastor Ismael received an Associate’s Degree in Banking and Finances at the Regional College in Puerto Rico and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration at the University of Puerto Rico. He also completed a Ministerial Affirmation Program.
His vision is to win the community for Christ and be a moral and spiritual support for others. He wants to be a blessing to the American church for they have been a blessing to the Hispanics. Pastor Ismael wants to fulfill God’s will above all things.
